WHAT

A total of 11,500 mq of the park of Villa Angaran San Giuseppe have been redeveloped with 269 new trees from 14 native species of the Veneto plain ecosystem. This was possible thanks to private organizations and individuals who chose to invest in environmental prevention and a more sustainable future. The inTREEcciamo park is still developing and it is still possible to take part in this shared urban regeneration project by choosing to adopt one of the trees for 1000$ or one of the shrubs for 100$ and donate it to whoever you want. WHERE

The inTREEcciamo park locates 500 meters from the historic center of Bassano del Grappa, along the bank of the Brenta river, in the four hectares of Villa Angaran San Giuseppe park. It is easily possible to be reached by foot, bikes and cars in just 5 minutes from the city center of Bassano del Grappa.

Villa Angaran San Giuseppe is a 17th century Palladian-style monument. It has been open to the public since 2015, offering support projects for people with disabilities and troubled upbringings. Moreover, the park hosts various social events, such as catering, tourist reception, and training, as well as artisanal, agricultural and cultural production. The park is open to every day and night to the public and will always be.

WHY

The planting of tree monocultures has been found to decrease environmental resilience to the effects of climate change. Grassing and reforestation of the park took place to activate the reduction of climate-altering greenhouse gas emissions and to naturalize the green area.

A total of 289 new plants were planted in 1100 square meters to create green areas to contrast the heat islands. The decrease in environmental temperature following the introduction of new tree species will be calculated from 2024, one year after planting, when the evapotranspiration capacity will start.

The transformation of the external spaces at Villa Angaran San Giuseppe also led to the elimination of 10 parking spaces, favoring the modal choice of active mobility, which will allow saving 250 kg of CO2 annually for each parking space eliminated.

Moreover, the replenishment of the park with native plants encouraged more biodiversity of flora and fauna, the most vital and complex feature of our planet, promoting healthy conditions of local ecosystems for organisms to thrive.

The urban forest is a green space designed for people and nature and it has regional, national and cultural importance contributing to the global initiative of planting “one trillion trees by 2050” (from the World Economic Forum).

The inTREEcciamo campaign is promoted by Villa Angaran San Giuseppe, through the consortium of social cooperatives Rete Pictor in collaboration with STL, Etifor, Landlab and People First.
